I don’t know how I graduated as I was not allowed to study. When my father was home I would wait until he went to bed and I would lay on the floor of the bathroom at night with a flashlight and do my homework as I was not allowed to sit let alone read or take out a book. If I sat down my father would slap me in the face and call me a lazy Bit….. so I know better than to sit, cooking and cleaning all the time just to keep him happy.
First Job….
“Secretary to Manager Bank of Montreal”
There I was a Stenographer and then one day the Assistant Manager told me he did not want me to tell the Diplomats that I was Multiracial. They used to always remark on my appearance and my long brown hair and ask, “ Are you South American?”, I would reply “no”, I am multiracial.
So that’s why I left that job and went to Canadian National Railways, where I ran the stenographic pool with 45 women then on to servicing 52 departments.
People Educator
Taught Business College for 10 years in Toronto and focused on the students who had a hard time learning and stayed an hour each night free and it brought me home late and my two daughters would always be at the bus stop waiting for me a 11pm. I would tell them it’s too late and to not wait but they did not want me to be alone walking home.
Taught in a Christian School with an autistic child and did therapy for Autistic Children in my home. Taught in another Christian School in Florida with 8 special needs children.
Worked for Visiting Angels for 10 years assisting Seniors in their homes. Also did the Marketing and put on Seminars in most large Senior Facilities.
